Molecular Biology
My name is Russell and I am currently a senior at Lehigh studying Molecular Biology. I am a member of Dr. Babcock’s research lab which studies neurodegenerative diseases in Drosophila melanogaster. After graduation I will be attending Medical School and am specifically interested in Neurology and the study of neuromuscular diseases.

The Eckardt Scholars program introduced me to some of my closest friends and afforded me great opportunities to learn and grow. Because of the Program’s flexibility, I was able to enroll in research for credit for the past six semesters. I’d like to thank the Eckardt Program for funding various components of my research in Dr. Babcock’s lab. Due to the grant, I was able to purchase laboratory tools for Drosophila dissection and continue my progress on a project which I proposed.

Thesis Title:
Investigating Synaptic Defects in a Drosophila model of Muscular Dystrophy
